“Just one more step.” That’s what carried me through Mt. Pulag via the Akiki–Ambangeg Trail, the highest peak in Luzon and one of the most demanding major hikes in the Philippines. After a sleepless overnight drive, the infamous Akiki Killer Trail tested my lungs, legs, and resolve with its relentless ascent. Cold winds, mossy forests, and a hard-earned summit made every struggle worth it. We descended via the gentler Ambangeg Trail—tired, fulfilled, and deeply grateful.
