DIY Solo Travel Guide to Dahilayan Adventure Park: My First-Time Solo Chill Adventure Story

“The man who goes alone can start today; but he who travels with another must wait till that other is ready.”

HENRY DAVID THOREAU

Have you ever traveled alone to a place you knew nothing about?
Well, I did—just two months ago—and now I’m craving for more solo adventures!

Armed with nothing but my phone, Google Maps, and the warm smiles of locals, I explored Bukidnon on my own. Of course, I stayed extra careful when talking to strangers… because let’s be honest, I get scammed easily—just like my previous relationships. 😂

Let me share how I got to Dahilayan Adventure Park, step-by-step, so you can plan your own beginner-friendly DIY trip too.

How to Get to Dahilayan Adventure Park (Updated DIY Guide)

This is perfect for solo travelers, first-timers, and budget-conscious adventurers.

1. Fly to Laguindingan International Airport (Cagayan de Oro)

If you’re coming from Luzon or Visayas, the fastest way is to book a flight straight to Laguindingan Airport.

2. From the Airport to Dahilayan

If you’re lucky enough to land early, look for the van bound for Dahilayan Adventure Park right outside the airport’s parking area.
📌 Take note:

  • They currently have one morning trip, around 9:00 AM.
  • This trip is not guaranteed daily due to low passenger volume.

I missed that van (of course 😅), so here’s the cheaper and more flexible route I took:

Alternative DIY Route to Dahilayan

➡️ Step 1: Airport → Agora Terminal (Van)

  • Fare: ₱200
  • Travel time: ~1 hour

➡️ Step 2: Agora Terminal → Camp Phillips (Minibus)

Walk about 5 minutes from Agora Terminal to SM Savemore, where you’ll find the minibus going to Camp Phillips.

  • Fare: ₱120
  • Travel time: ~2 hours
Your drop-off point is the famous Del Monte Pineapple Landmark.

➡️ Step 3: Camp Phillips → Dahilayan (Habal-Habal / Bao-Bao)

There are no public jeeps or buses going directly to Dahilayan Adventure Park.
You must hire a motorcycle or bao-bao.

A kind bus driver connected me to a bao-bao operator.

  • I paid ₱300 (one-way)
  • Driver originally asked for ₱500, but I negotiated 😌
  • Travel time: ~1 hour

👉 TIP: Negotiate especially if there are other passengers going the same way.

Entrance Fees and Booking Tips

You’ll pay a ₱100 entrance fee at the gate.

To save money, I highly recommend booking through Klook—they offer discounted ride packages and online reservations.

I booked:

It was raining so hard when I visited here, and some rides were unavailable for safety reasons. I will definitely come back!

Going Back from Dahilayan

Leaving Dahilayan depends on your route:

  • They have a van trip back to CDO, last trip at 4:30 PM (as of writing).
  • Or you can hire another bao-bao back to Camp Phillips.
    • I paid ₱350 for a solo trip since I was heading to Malaybalay afterward.

From Camp Phillips, wait for buses going to Cagayan de Oro.

COMMUTE EXPENSES SUMMARY

RoutePrice
Van to Agora Terminal₱200
Minibus to Camp Phillips₱120
Bao-Bao to Dahilayan₱300
Bao-Bao back to Camp Phillips₱350

Perfect for solo travelers, couples making memories, or anyone planning a DIY adventure in Bukidnon.

My Dahilayan Experience

It was raining hard during my visit, so not all rides were available for safety reasons—but trust me, this place is worth coming back to! The cool climate, the pine trees, and the adrenaline rides make it one of the best adventure parks in the Philippines.
